• My system is on a different level now.

  A different level, a whole new dimension. It’s like comparing a rough piece of wood (a blank workpiece) to a finished masterpiece that brings pure aesthetic pleasure. I was just listening to Sting with Eric Clapton — it gave me actual goosebumps, and that is worth everything!

• I want to thank the master for his work, for his skill, for his intuition and experience! This DAC out of the box sounds very, very cool, but it wasn't fully revealed — thanks to the master, its true potential has been unlocked.

  Regarding the sound, I'll say this: the characteristic sound signature of the AKM chip is noticeable right out of the box, but after the upgrade, the soundstage changed dramatically — it became much more three-dimensional, the detail level increased, and the bass became powerful yet remained articulate, without any muddiness or booming. The highs are soft and crisp. I listened to it on ADAM T7V monitors. I definitely recommend this DAC and its upgrade. The impressions are nothing short of spectacular!

  The DAC has improved across all parameters: resolution has increased, the bass registers boom significantly less, and the highs are pristine without causing any listener fatigue, making music a true pleasure to listen to. What's more, all these improvements are clearly audible even if you are in another room down the hallway.

• Honestly, I didn't expect such a massive impact from this upgrade. The stock Rod Rain DAC is night and day compared to what the master achieved. It’s an entirely different level; it feels strange to even compare them.

  The soundstage is now massive, expansive, and truly three-dimensional. Instruments never turn into a muddy mess; each holds its own place and remains sharply focused. There is an ocean of detail, yet there is zero listener fatigue. The sound is smooth with a pleasing coloration, allowing you to listen for hours on end without getting tired.

  What surprises me most is the effect on familiar tracks: it’s as if you’re listening to a remix — a wealth of new details and emotions emerges. You hit play on a playlist and just zone out of reality for a couple of hours — that is how powerfully the music captivates and immerses you.

  It sounds clearer, and the texture is much more defined. Especially at the frequency extremes — the bass goes deeper, and the highs are perfectly fine, especially for an R2R layout... But the midrange is just something else entirely! Overall, it delivers a truly mature sound signature.

• I used to blame my speakers, the amplifier, or its dying capacitors… But no, everything is fine — it turned out to be an issue with the primary sound processing stage.

  For the sake of a clean experiment, I turned on Spotify via an optical connection from the TV. Even with such a terrible source configuration, the sound was balanced, without any frequency tilt or bloat, and fully saturated. And the icing on the cake — I got actual goosebumps from tracks I know by heart! Bottom line — massive respect and thank you!
